I am an avid reader, and when I was pregnant, I decided that I would make sure my child falls in love with books too. So when my child was about 4-months-old, I started reading to her during bedtime. Soon enough, she fell in love with books, so much so that she now picks out books of her choice every day. Sweet, right. But that is where all the good things end. She is a toddler now, and likes to go by the nickname 'tyrant'. In her own words, her spirit animal is a bison, and I can see why. The way she runs into things headfirst and loves to run into solid things like walls, the bison-like qualities shine through. It is no wonder then that I got interested in the book 'Toddlers are A-Holes: It's not your fault'. Soon enough, I had the book and read it in 2 sittings. Both the sittings were in the night, after my toddler went to bed, of course. The book is hilarious, and so to the point!

This book is about every parent's struggle at understanding why someone so cute and cuddly acts like a total A-Hole in so many aspects of life. The book is about a parent's failure at keeping the backseat clean, and about finding random things like 7 different socks, a bag of cereal and a forgotten diaper in the seat crevices. Why your toddler behaves like an ideal child in presence of grandparents, and screams bloody murder even if you mention something innocent like 'wear your clothes'.

I thoroughly enjoyed the sarcastic/ funny style of writing, and the matter of fact way in which the writer explains the everyday nuances of parenting, and why it drives her over the edge. There is one section, spread across the books, called 'Santi-parent', and I totally love that section. It is the voice of this parent who seems to have everything in control...and why such parents piss off the other. 'regular' parents.

If you are a parent to a toddler, definitely read this book. If you know a parent of a toddler, definitely gift them this book.
