teeth whiteningIf you've been tempted by those shining white teeth your favourite celeb is flaunting and want to get your teeth professionally whitened, read this first! Not all people are good candidates for the procedure.

The chemicals used for whitening could increase the sensitivity of your teeth and it could really hurt if you have very sensitive teeth or gums, have large cavities or fillings, have receded gums and exposed roots, grind your teeth and have worn enamel or have any developmental anomalies of teeth.

You also shouldn't opt for it if you are pregnant or are currently breastfeeding or have multiple ulcers in your mouth.

You could try whitening toothpastes containing gentle polishing agents that could help with stain removal and whiten teeth. The ingredients in these toothpastes are mild in nature and do not cause increased sensitivity. They act more gradually and can lighten the teeth only by a shade or two though.
