Now a smart toothbrush to take your oral health to the next level!

The Oral-B Smart Series electric toothbrush boasts Bluetooth and its own smartphone app to educate and entertain users while keeping their dentists informed. Due to be officially unveiled at the Mobile World Congress on February 24, the toothbrush is bound to raise a dazzling white smile when attendees see it in action.

Developed by Proctor&Gamble to give consumers 'unprecedented control' over their oral care, the toothbrush links wirelessly to the Oral-B App to provide real-time guidance about how they brush and for how long and logs brushing activity, which can be analyzed and shared with a dentist or simply used to set and track oral hygiene goals. A dentist can also program the brush so that its user follows a specific cleaning routine, and to ensure that it is adhered to -- because brushing away for more than a minute can become mundane -- when used alongside the smartphone app, the brush will also provide news, current affairs, weather reports and oral hygiene snippets to help stay on task.(Read: Tips to choose a toothbrush)

Rather than a single device, the Oral B App, which will be available to download to iOS devices from May, and Android from August, will be able to work with a range of new connected electric toothbrushes. However, the range-topping SmartSeries brush with Bluetooth won't be launching globally until June.(Read: Now, smart toothbrush that `can track' and improve your dental hygiene)

Believe it or not, this is not the world's first smart toothbrush. In January, a French start-up company called Kolibree unveiled an internet-connected toothbrush at the International CES in Las Vegas. Like the Oral B SmartSeries, it works with an app that tracks and monitors cleaning time. However, unlike the Oral B brush, the Kolibree uses brush-mounted sensors to make sure that no areas of the user's mouth are being neglected. If its Kickstarter campaign is a success, the company hopes to launch the toothbrush in the third quarter of 2014, some three months after the Oral B brush hits the shelves.
