Zubeen Garg Last Rites Live Updates: Assam is bidding farewell to its most beloved cultural icon, Zubeen Garg, whose funeral will be held today (Tuesday) with full state honours at Kamarkuchi NC village near Guwahati. The singer, who captured millions of hearts with his music across Assamese, Bollywood, and regional industries, passed away after suffering a fatal head injury during scuba diving in Singapore on Friday, 19th September 2025, at the age of 52.
How did Assamese singer Zubeen Garg die? The voice behind one of Bollywood's hit songs, "Ya Ali", had recently arrived in the island country and was scheduled to perform at the North East India Festival on Friday. However, things changed when he suffered a fatal seizure while scuba diving. Singapore police rescued Garg and rushed him to the hospital, where he died in intensive care. Himanta Biswa Sarma, chief minister of Garg's home state, Assam, said at a news conference Sunday that the cause of death was drowning.
