Many of us often look up the astrology section in the newspaper to know how our day will progress and how fruitful it will be. But we rarely bother how our health would be. While scientists and doctors would tell you take good care of your health by staying fit and eating right, a new study claims that your health and disease risk depends on the month in which you were born.

How was the study conducted?

The researchers studied samples of 1.7 million people from the New York City medical databases for more than 1600 diseases.

What did the study find?

The researchers found that 55 of those diseases were dependent on the birth month. The researchers believe that you are exposed to certain environmental factors that are particular to the month you are born in and these factors interact with genes and hence influence early development.

Months and diseases:

January- Hypertension

February- Atrial Fibrillation

March- Atherosclerosis

April- Chest Pain

May and June- Lowest risk of diseases

July, August, September, October- Asthma

November- ADHD, acute bronchitis, and viral infections

December- Mental illnesses

Does this study hold true for everyone?

The results are based on the study conducted on 1.7 million people and the researchers explain that there's no need of worrying as the risks identified are not high, and there's no need to take preventive action. They further explain that the risks due to birth month is relatively low as compared to influential factors like diet and exercise.
