Whether you are vegan or simply don’t think it is right to use milk derived from animals or if you are lactose intolerant, you may want to consider these substitutes for animal-derived milk. While you can use milk derived from plant sources in your cooking, only some of them can actually be a replacement for dairy. Also, just because the milk is from a plant source and healthy, it doesn’t mean that you can binge and not worry about calories because it may still be high in sugar. You may want to use it in your cooking and it can be used in both spicy and sweet dishes. High in nutrition, coconut milk can serve as a great substitute for animal-derived milk and has a great flavour too.

Almond Milk

The consistency can be really thick and a little can go a long way. This extremely delicious is quite similar to animal-derived milk and the unsweetened varieties are healthy too. They contain good fat and will serve as a great alternative to animal-derived milk in tea and coffee.

Rice Milk

This lactose and allergen-free milk is becoming very popular these days. One of the great options from many plant-based milks, rice milk is rich in vitamins and good carbs. Although it contains sugar, you might want to just use it for cooking and moderation. You might want to try rice milk if you have protein-allergy.

Soy milk

Rich in protein soy milk in an extremely popular substitute for animal-derived milk. It contains the 9 essential amino acids and can help you build your immunity strong and with such low-calorie content. You might also want to switch to this milk for weight loss. Peanut milk

Like almond milk, peanut milk is another variety of milk from the nuts. Containing no lactose, it is highly suitable for people with lactose intolerance. Used in smaller quantity, this non-dairy beverage can be a great alternative for vegans.
