World Health News Live Updates: After battling the deadly COVID-19 for over 4 years, the United States is now battling the worst measles outbreak in over 33 years. The national case count reached 1,288 on Wednesday, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Measles is one of the highly contagious, and serious airborne diseases that is caused by a virus which can trigger severe disease, complications and even result in death, the World Health Organization (WHO) states. Usually, this spreads easily when the infected person breathes, coughs or sneezes. The disease can affect any person, but is found to be more common among children.
