In 2012, World Health Organisation (WHO) reported that only nine million units of blood was collected annually against a demand of twelve million units. One of the main reasons for this shortage is the misconceptions and myths associated with blood donation. The general notion surrounding blood donation is that it will make affect your health or give you HIV or that you can donate blood just once a year - all of which are just myths.
