Out of the 6 types of asthma, allergic asthma is one of the most common types. Allergic asthma is basically airway passage inflammation due to various allergens. It is caused when your airway passages become so sensitive to particular allergens that your body starts to show allergic reactions. Childhood asthma is usually triggered by allergens more than adulthood asthma due to the immune system being weak during childhood.
How is allergy caused?
Any kind of allergic reaction is majorly a reaction from our immune system. Sometimes our immune system mistakes a few common agents to be things that can become a threat to the body. Dust Mites
According to a survey done by the SRL Diagnostics, it is revealed that dust is the biggest cause of respiratory allergies in Indians. Moreover, men suffer more from allergen reactivity than women. Dust mites are microscopic creatures that feed on human skin flakes and both its body and faeces are considered allergens.
Cockroach
It the same survey by SRL diagnostics that collected a sample size of more than 63,000 patients found out that across various geographies in India, as an individual allergen cockroach was the number one yielding more than 60% abnormal results. The saliva, body and faeces of cockroaches can act as allergens.
Moulds
Is moisture present around your home? You might want to keep that in check because moulds can form anywhere there is moisture and moulds are known to be a strong allergen. They can be present anywhere outdoors to indoors. They live on wooden items, plan, your basement, pipes or even your shower.
Pets
Pets are another big allergen that can cause allergic asthma. Right from their hair, saliva, urine, faeces or even skin flakes can cause allergies. Interestingly, you don't have to own pets to get exposed to the allergens they are present in the air and can even be found in places with no pets.
Pollen
This very well-known allergen comes trees, plants, flowers and even grasses. They have their own peak-season, usually during spring but pollens are even found in other seasons too.
