Bollywood star Salman Khan, who is currently shooting in Kashmir for his upcoming movie Bajrangi Bhaijaan has reportedly fallen ill. As per reports the star was suffering from severe ear pain and was unable to shoot, causing it to be briefly postponed.
In a statement to Hindustan Times his father, Salim Khan confirmed, 'Salman is suffering from an ear problem.'
As of now, it is reported that he has resumed work with the help of painkillers. The movie slated for a release in July 2015, has a few scenes in Kashmir and therefore required the actor to be at the location for 40 days.
In fact, reports published on the NDTV site state that the actor could also not attend the hearing of the Arms Act case against him at a Rajasthan court citing the same reason.
What could have caused the actor's ear pain?
One of the most common reasons for ear pain is either altitude change (which is likely in a terrain like Kashmir), sinusitus, a sudden change in weather or an infection. All these causes can worsen an already present infection making the pain unbearable. According to Dr Vikas Agarwal, a Mumbai based ENT surgeon, An ear infection is usually caused due to a bacterial or fungal attack and is more common in children than in adults. In general, it can give rise to acute pain and cause a lot of disturbance on the onset.'

Another plausible cause is the actor's prevailing ailment -- trigeminal neuralgia. In this condition a person's facial nerves get affected causing pain.
