The Apple iPhone 6 HealthKit was supposed to be the next big thing in healthcare. Earlier in June, before the launch of iPhone 6, the Apple's website promised to have covered all health factors including heart rate, blood pressure and calorie intake with its new app.
Apple Software executive Craig Federighi mentioned earlier that the HealthKit covers all aspects of health and fitness, from tracking blood alcohol content, inhaler use to intake of sodium and even increase in height for kids who are still growing. The HealthKit claimed to allow monitoring of all metrics that users would be interested to track. However, it turns out that Apple has missed out one important thing -- tracker for woman's menstrual cycle -- which definitely is a disappointment to women iPhone users.
In an email to verge.com, Lisa Kennelly, Marketing Community Manager for Clue, a fertility and period tracker iOS app, mentioned that they would love to integrate their app with the HealthKit once reproductive health becomes a part of it. If it does, the period tracker would offer metrics including cycle length, symptoms, ovulation day and period length. Currently, they are awaiting Apple's approval for an app update that uses Clue's basal body temperature tracker.
