Manuel Frederick first Indian Olympic Medalist, passed away at the age of 78 because of cancer. According to the reports, he was admitted to a private hospital in Bengaluru while battling with stage four cancer. This news has turned out to be really shocking for his family and the Hockey Federation of India. President of Hockey, India, Dilip Trikey said, "I extend my deepest condolences to his family. Indian hockey has lost a great son, but his legacy will forever live on." He won a bronze medal at the 1972 Munich Olympics when he was with the indian team. Frederick was the first person from Kerala to win an Olympic medal in Indian history. Manuel Frederick was one of India's finest goalkeepers -his contribution to the Indian hockey team will always be remembered. He has also been honoured with the Dhyanchand Khel Ratna award in 2019.

Manuel Frederick's Cause Of Death

Manuel Frederick first Indian Olympic Medalist, reason of death was prostate cancer, which he had been suffering from for nearly 10 months. His health condition started to deteriorate in recent weeks after he developed jaundice, which affected his liver and led to further complications. Despite proper medical care, he stayed ill at his residence. Cancer and liver problems made it more difficult for him to recover properly. His daughter shared that his health was depleting rapidly, and he passed away peacefully at home.
