Uganda News: A MYSTERIOUS illness dubbed 'dinga dinga' or dancing virus attack by the locals is spreading rapidly across Uganda. According to reports, the mysterious virus has already infected 300 people, most of whom are women and girls in the Bundibugyo district. "The virus is causing uncontrollable body shaking and difficulties in walking," Uganda health officials told the media.
This outbreak emerges as Uganda grapples with a severe health crisis brought on by Mpox.

The first case of Dinga Dinga or dancing virus illness was reported from a small rural town in Uganda. However, with its highly transmissible features, the virus quickly escalated into a concerning outbreak. As per records, within weeks, cases were reported in neighbouring towns and urban centers, raising fears of a global health crisis. The virus gets its peculiar name from the local dialect, where "dinga" translates to "shaking," referring to the uncontrollable tremors that are one of the hallmark symptoms of the disease.

People suffering from Dinga Dinga report a range of symptoms. The most alarming of them is excessive body shaking which is very much similar to dancing movements.

Other symptoms associated with the diaga dinga virus disease include - Shortness of breath, coughing, rashes or discoloration, and chest discomfort. Dizziness, confusion, and even fainting spells have been observed.
How does the virus transmit? The transmission mode of the Dinga Dinga illness remains unclear, though evidence suggests it spreads through close contact.
Although the exact cause remains unknown, early medical intervention is considered very important. Residents in affected areas are urged to monitor symptoms like fever and body tremors.
Although, there is no exact medicines known to cure this condition or prevent the virus attack. Experts have advised against taking herbal medicines because there is no scientific evidence that they are useful for this medical condition. "Visit the hospital immediately after experiencing any of the signs mentioned above."
