If you are a foodie, losing weight may seem a Herculean task. Keeping away from a different type of cuisine and not trying out every new item on the menu of a restaurant can be the hardest thing to stay away from.
But a new study claims that you should experiment with your eating habits rather than sticking to a healthy diet plan regularly. It might sound contrary to the popular belief, but the researchers found that adventurous eaters (foodies) weigh less and are also healthier when compared to people to people who follow a healthy diet religiously. Well, the researchers studied diets of over 500 women across the USA and found that women who had eaten the widest variety of uncommon foods like beef tongue, rabbit and polenta were healthier and more physically active. This doesn't mean you have to eat beef tongue and rabbit or try an unconventional food. The researchers say that dieters benefit from this finding because now, they can diversify their diet and can lose and maintain their weight without being restricted by a strict diet.
The study was published in the journal Obesity and was co-authored by Lara Latimer from the University of Texas.
