Sonu Tula Mazyavar Bharosa nhay ka? If the song doesn t immediately ring a bell, you have definitely been living under a rock. But the rest of us know why this Marathi picnic song has assumed great significance in the past few days. Mumbai-based radio jockey Malishka Mendonsa who hosts a hugely popular show on a radio station recently made a parody of this song highlighting the gross apathy of BMC and its handling of Mumbai s potholes. Since her video went viral, many have done their own spoofs with different lyrics. Cashing in on this popular trend is Dr Sarita Bhagwat, a Pune-based International Board Certified Lactation Consultant who has made her own version of Sonu Tula Mazyavar Bharosa Nhay Kay to spread awareness about breastfeeding among new mothers this World Breastfeeding Week 2017.

Her song, called, Aai Tula Tuzya Doodha var Bharosa Nhay Ka, literally translates to, Mom, do you not believe in your own breast milk?

New moms believe in a number of breastfeeding myths. You should stop breastfeeding your child after six months of age, newborns and infants can be allergic to breast milk if they refuse feeds often, a mother must drink milk to make more milk these are just a few myths surrounding breastfeeding. Dr Sarita s peppy song, which features some other unnamed women including a nurse, makes certain facts clear. Aren't you aware of the miraculous powers of your milk? Won't you start breastfeeding your child within 1 hour of giving birth? Won't you breastfeed exclusively for the first six months? they ask through the song.
