The high-pressure environment of the UPSC exam promotes poor mental well-being that causes stress, anxiety and loss of self-esteem, where years of hard work and intense preparation are put at risk.

It's disheartening not to qualify for the next round, and that might cause you stress and pressure. But there's something certain that you should know that any failure is an opportunity to do better next time.

Depression can succumb to you, but you should be determined enough to fight the odds. The stress and anxiety that aspirants face is often a repercussion of social isolation for preparation, the fear of failing, the eternal pursuit of success that creates burnout and the unnatural expectations from society.

These 5 simple thoughts can help you beat the exam stress and anxiety if you couldn't make it to the UPSC mains exam

Like anything, this too shall pass. You should know that there is a life full of magic waiting for you, but despite all, if you still continue to feel the pressure and anxiety, then know these simple things to make yourself feel better.

There's no reason to fear people

Inability to make it to the UPSC Mains Exam can cause you stress and fear. Such mental health conditions can make you not socialise much, but one should know that by meeting others and socialising more, one can certainly feel better and be distracted. Moreover, socialising can help you expand the horizon of what you do as you get more ideas and thoughts.

Don't care about what people say

Exams like the UPSC can make one worry more about the societal pressure and the questions that they ask. People often feel demotivated because of these questions and often throw themselves into the vacuum of depression. You should know that everyone has their own opinion, but it is up to us what we have to process from the world. You shouldn't listen to the hate, but focus on the positive side of life. People are just people, but we are the processors of our own mental well-being.

There's always another chance

Don't be frightened about not making it to the next round of the UPSC CSE 2025, but know there's another year waiting for you. The next year can be the turning point for you, where you can outshine everyone and appear to be on top.

You are not the only one

Know that you are not alone, but there are people who worked harder than you and gave more time for the UPSC journey and still didn't make it. It's not about who makes it, but who deals the best with the odds. Seeing it this way will help you feel better and less alone, as you would know there are other people who would be trying again next year for the UPSC CSE EXAM.

Failure isn't fatal

Even if it was your last attempt, you should know that failure isn't always fatal and at times it's a redirection and not a denial. It's okay to feel upset after, but it's important to pick yourself up and seek things that make you feel valued and happy, and that is the ultimate way to success. You may have better things than qualifying UPSC EXAM. The next chapter of your life is the one to look for.

You can feel pressure and anxiety if you didn't make it to the list of the UPSC CSE PRELIMS QUALIFIED CANDIDATES. After strenuous preparations, it is normal to feel sad and vacant, but there's something that you should know: this is life, and there are many chances ahead.
