Akhilesh YadavThe NHRC Wednesday urged the Uttar Pradesh doctors to end their strike for the sake of suffering patients.

Junior doctors and medical practitioners across the state went on a strike following police action and arrest of two dozen junior doctors of GSV Medical College, Kanpur as a result of a scuffle with an MLA Feb 28. In a statement released here, the National Human Rights Commission said it was "deeply concerned" following reports of health services being paralysed and leading to the death of many patients due to the strike in different parts of the state.

'Repercussions of this strike may impact other parts of the country as the Indian Medical Association has reportedly said if charges against junior doctors are not dropped and action against the MLA and the SSP, Kanpur not taken, it would go on an all-India strike from Thursday,' the NHRC said.
