It has become a norm now to use both the words Delhi and rape in the same sentence and we are still unable to bring things under control. On Saturday morning, the national capital woke up to two new cases of gang-rape that of minors, both now in critical condition.
In the first case, a two-and-a-half year old girl was raped allegedly by two men who abducted her from near her house from Nangloi area in west Delhi. Apparently the girl was watching Ramleela at the time. Following a power cut the abductors took advantage of the situation and kidnapped her. Neighbours found her lying unconscious at a nearby park. She was profusely bleeding. The girl has suffered severe damage to her private parts and has bites marks on her body, said Swati Maliwal, the chairperson of Delhi Commission for Women who visited her today and also twitted about this horrific incident to bring it to the notice of other authorities. The little girl has received severe damage to her private parts and has bite marks all over her body. She is in a critical condition. No arrest was made in this case. In the other case that happened in west Delhi s Anand Vihar area, a five year old girl was abducted by her neighbours when she was alone at home and raped by him and his friends. Her neighbours saw her coming out crying profusely and with blood stains in the clothes. Three people were arrested in this case. Maliwal said she intended to meet Delhi s Lieutenant Governor and the police commissioner to seek coordinated action for preventing such crimes. While 11,000 FIRs were registered for crimes against women in 2014, there were only nine convictions, she said. There is no data on POSCO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act) crimes. Something to ponder: Till when will the lives of these small girls are in a state of danger? Will the capital ever be able to give children the safe and secure surrounding to grow and proper without the ugly scars in their souls? Why is it that people aren t scared of law and order till in the society? Till when are these little girls going to suffer?
