The Human Metapneumovirus or HMPV has been doing its rounds since China recorded the outbreak in December 2024. It is a virus that causes respiratory infections and it is very similar to the flu or respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). This virus particularly impacts children and infants but according to news reports, it has also been infecting adults. In recent development concerning HMPV in India, two more patients have tested positive in Jaipur.
A man and a woman tested positive and were admitted to Sawai Man Singh Hospital in Jaipur. The confirmation has come to light on Thursday. However, officials say that the patients are now stable and that there is no need to panic. Note that HMPV can also impact older adults and other immunocompromised individuals.
The sample of both the patients was sent for testing two days ago. Following this, the hospital confirmed that they are infected with HMPV. Reports state that the duo was admitted to SMS Hospital recently as they were also suffering from other diseases.
