Researchers are restoring the vision of people suffering from age-related macular degeneration (AMD) by implanting tiny telescopes in their eyes. Dr. Sid Mandelbaum an ophthalmologist at East Side Eye Surgeons in New York City told Fox News that a tiny telescope which is implanted in the eye after the lens is removed takes the place of the individual's own lens and remains in the eye permanently. The procedure takes a little more than an hour and once the telescope has been implanted it magnifies the images a patient sees and projects them.
