Touted as Asia s sexiest woman, Katrina Kaif is popular for her lithe body and dance moves. But the actress is also one of the fittest in Bollywood and she is all set to run Mumbai Marathon coming Sunday, 17th Jan. Her trainer Yasmin Karachiwala is preparing her for the marathon. We got some excerpts from Katrina's trainer Yasmin on her fitness and diet plan for the run.

Workout Routine

Her routine includes lot of functional training combined with Pilates and an hour of cardio every day. I have designed a schedule for Katrina that combines her cardio workouts and ATS (Altitude training system). We compliment that with Pilates as it helps balance your body after the imbalances created by running. ATS boosts oxygen-carrying red blood cells and gives you a feeling of exercising in a mountain 15,000 feet above sea level. Pilates also help develop a strong core and gives you a better form. Diet routine

Speed, alertness and energy are the three key factors that help you ace a marathon. Therefore, I have planned her diet in a way that keeps her glycogen levels up. She follows a very nutritious diet. Her breakfast consists of oats and nuts. She eats fish and veggies for lunch and eggs and soup for dinner. To beat hunger pangs through the day, Katrina snacks on fruits, nuts, and some healthy vegan protein snacks between meals.

The diva steers clear of sugar, wheat, milk, fried food and alcohol. She eats whole foods that are nutritious and keeps her lean and her skin glowing. Preserved packaged food is also something that she keeps away from. Katrina Kaif reveals how she looks fabulous in every movie.

Special tip from Yasmin for runners

  • Start fuelling your body with water as soon as you wake up. Make use of the water station on the way. Don t wait until you feel thirsty since that is an indicator that your body is already dehydrated.
  • Load on carbs a night before the run. Carbohydrates give a boost to glycogen enabling you to improve your speed, energy and alertness.
  • Pace your run and avoid starting at a fast pace. Warm your body up and slowly increase your pace. You need to ensure that you have the stamina to finish strong.
  • As tempting as it may be, don t wear anything new on the day of the run. Stick to the shoes that you have been training in and you know won t give up on you on the day of the event.
