Third Wave of Coronavirus: ‘Avoid Going Out of The House Unless Necessary’, AIIMS Director Warns As Festive Season Nears

As the fear of the third wave of coronavirus looms large in India, Director of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Dr Randeep Guleria has warned the countrymen that not following COVID safety protocols may lead to another worse phase of the pandemic. The second wave of coronavirus was deadly in India. It left the country's healthcare workers in one of the toughest situations. From lowering down oxygen levels in the body to the scarcity of hospital beds, the country faced it all. According to the data, lakhs were affected by the virus infection in the second phase alone.
Is the threat over now? No. certainly not. Speaking to the media, AIIMS director Dr. Guleria said that a third wave is possible in India if people stop maintaining social distancing and proper masking. "Avoid stepping out of the house unless absolutely necessary. Whenever you step out of the house, wear a mask. Keep washing your hands with soap. After touching anything, definitely use sanitiser. Health is important now", said AIIMS, Delhi, Director, Dr Randeep Guleria as the festive season is approaching.
Asserting that the COVID-19 pandemic is not over yet, Guleria said that the virus is still hovering over the country and people should be now highly cautious about the safety protocols.

Third Wave of COVID-19 In India: How To Avert The Situation
There are two major things to keep in mind at the moment as the country is still recouping from the effect of the second wave. One is to get vaccinated to avert the serious outcomes of the virus attack, and the other one is to follow three rules wear masks properly, wash your hands constantly, and keep a distance of 1 metre from others when you are out of your house.

India logged 36,571 new coronavirus infections, taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 3,23,58,829, while the national recovery rate improved to 97.54 per cent, the highest since March 2020, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday. The death toll climbed to 4,33,589 with 540 fresh fatalities, according to the data updated at 8 am. The active cases have declined to 3,63,605, the lowest in 150 days, and comprise 1.12 per cent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, the ministry said.
