The dress, which many people saw as blue and black and white and gold, remains statically white and gold in the ad. In a country like India, domestic abuse is extremely common and several women are subjected to it. It is a growing cause for concern and there is still a lot left to be done about it.
Domestic abuse in India
Domestic violence is a serious problem in India, and it is not just the helpless, uneducated women who are bearing the brunt. According to one study, Indian women who have more resources than their partner are likelier to suffer from domestic violence.
The saddest part is that it is not even looked down upon by all sections of the society. According to one government survey, 51 percent of Indian men and 54 percent of women justified wife beating.
