Chandran was a 14-year-old who couldn’t do the normal things that every other child his age did. He couldn’t run and play thanks to multiple congenital heart defects. Diagnosed 5 years ago his condition was rather rare and was being managed at JIPMER. Last month he was referred to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital where he underwent a successful surgery. Due to his condition his tongue face and fingernails would turn blue even though his haemoglobin count was normal. Doctors worried that his condition could lead to a stroke. Scans revealed a ventricular septal defect and an overriding aorta.
