Swine flu in UP: 72 more people infected with the H1N1 virus, death toll reaches 16

A total of 1,814 patients were screened out of which 720 were tested positive.

As many as 72 new people were tested positive for swine flu in Uttar Pradesh taking the total number of people affected by the virus to 720. Out of these 16 people have succumbed to the H1N1 virus.

Of the 72 new cases, 59 are from Lucknow, seven from Breilly, two each from Unnao and Meerut and one from Allahabad and Farukbahad, a health department official said.

With this, the number of H1N1 virus patients has surged to 720 in the state, the maximum of 608 being reported in the state capital, where leave of all the health department officials has been cancelled, he said. Read about the various precautions you need to take to prevent swine flu.

Chief Medical Officer, Lucknow, SNS Yadav said that of the total 608 patients reported from the state capital, 500 have recovered and are leading a normal life.
