Swine flu in Telangana: 59 succumb to the H1N1 virus

Health authorities have screened 5,114 samples since January 1 and out of them, 1,600 were found positive.

The death toll due to Telangana in Telangana has risen to 59, with one more person dying since yesterday. Additionally, 42 more people have tested positive for H1N1.

According to a bulletin issued by the department, 122 samples were tested on Tuesday and out of them, 42 were found positive.

The state continues to report swine flu cases despite the increase in day temperature. The number of fresh cases, which had come down to 26 on Tuesday, went up again. Read more about the various precautions that need to be taken in order to prevent swine flu.

Health authorities have screened 5,114 samples since January 1 and out of them, 1,600 were found positive. Hyderabad and neighbouring Ranga Reddy district accounted for the majority of deaths as well as positive cases.

Officials said enough stocks of medicines and testing kits have been made available at all teaching, district and area hospitals.

The health department has advised people to take all precautions and approach hospitals on the first symptoms of swine flu like high fever, sneezing, cough and body pain. Read more about the various swine flu signs and symptoms.
