Swine flu in India: Swine flu kills 90, 1052 people tested positive in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal, Feb 19: Madhya Pradesh Health Minister Narottam Mishra Thursday said the deadly swine flu virus has killed 90 people in the state so far. Narottam said while the flu has claimed 90 lives, as many as 1052 people have tested positive for the virus. The condition of five of those who tested positive is said to be serious. Here are some facts about Swine flu

Around 6,298 cases have already been reported and more than 485 deaths have occurred due to Swine flu in India, according to health statistics available till 13th February 2015. There has been a massive spurt in cases of swine flu this year, despite the government employing safe practices all over the nation. This is why, knowing few facts about the disease might help you in dealing with this epidemic in a better way.

  • It is vital to maintain a high level of personal hygiene to prevent swine flu. Additionally, always cover your face while coughing or sneezing (make your colleagues to follow this rule) and avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth too often.
  • Always opt for a standard H-95 mask (it is normally worn by doctors and nurses while collecting sample from infected individuals). The common surgical masks that sell like hotcakes are not very effective in preventing the spread of the virus.
