Andhra Pradesh, Jan 15: The number of cases of swine flu in the country is on the rise. After claiming two lives in Indore on January 14, swine flu has killed two in Andhra Pradesh. Hyderabad alone has shown a steep rise in the total number of cases with the number reaching 67 until January 14. (Read: Swine flu claims two lives in Pune)
This time around swine flu claimed lives of a 60-year-old and another 28-year-old at the Gandhi Hospital on Wednesday. The Hindu reported that these deaths have taken the death toll to 3 in January alone, with total deaths between December and January to 8.
After the death of a 23-year-old male on January 11, swine flu claimed the life of this 28-year-old male who was hospitalized on January 14. He was in a critical condition and on a ventilator while being admitted to Gandhi Hospital. The doctors who attended the patient said that he died within 10 minutes of admission due to multiple organ failure. The 60-year-old elderly patient was also brought in from a private hospital but and he succumbed to the deadly disease on Wednesday. Swine flu co-ordinator at Gandhi Hospital Dr. Narasimhulu said, All these persons were brought to the hospital in a very critical condition. We did not get one full day to treat these patients. (Read: Swine flu: Prevention is better than cure)
