Swine flu in Delhi: 23-year-old pregnant woman, and now 5-yr-old girl dies, death toll 10

New Delhi, Feb 26: A five-year-old girl has become the latest victim of swine flu, taking to 10 the total number of deaths due to the H1N1 virus in the national capital. The city today reported 137 fresh cases of swine flu as the total number of cases rose to 2,708. According to a government official, the girl died at Hindu Rao Hospital. Alisha was suffering from H1N1 influenza virus and died at Hindu Rao Hospital on February 13, the official said. The health department of Delhi government today carried out 665 tests, of which 137 were tested positive. On Friday, three people, including a 23-year-old pregnant woman, died of swine flu in the national capital. The woman, a resident of east Delhi’s Krishna Nagar, was admitted to Lok Nayak Jaya Prakash (LNJP) Hospital on February 5 and succumbed to the disease on February 12. The woman’s samples were sent for testing on February 6 to National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and on February 9 the reports confirmed that she was suffering from swine flu.
