Swine flu claims woman's life in Delhi

New Delhi, Dec 26: A 51-year-old woman died of swine flu at a private hospital in Delhi, doctors said today. The deceased was a resident of East Model Town in Ghaziabad. She was admitted to the ICU of Ganga Ram Hospital in a serious condition on December 21. 'At the time of admission, the patient was in a critical state. She had lung failure and was on high frequency ventilator support. (Read:Swine flu: Ten facts you should know)

Here are some tips to prevent swine flu:

  • Wear a proper surgical mask during flu season because the number of cases shoots up during the summers and monsoon seasons.
  • Always cover your face while coughing or sneezing. Ensure others around you also follow the same practice, especially if they re down with cold.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth too often.
  • Remember the virus can also spread through droplets that have settled on surfaces so avoid touching them if you re around a person who has flu like symptoms.
