After PM Modi started his campaign for a cleaner India, several Bollywood personalities came forward to lend their support to it. The 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' has gained massive popularity due to their involvement. The likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Hritihk Roshan, Kamal Hassan and many others have cleaned public spaces with a broom in hand. The latest addition to the list is Vivek Oberoi. The actor announced on his Twitter page yesterday and urged others to join him as he cleaned Mumbai. 'Join me in the mission of #swachhbharat at 5pm in Juhu chowpati- see u there!' tweeted Vivek.
He was seen with a broom in hand with several others who helped him clean the area. Vivek who is the brand ambassador for Cancer Patients Aid Association (CPAA) took part in the cleanliness drive along with other organisers of the association. He was later praised by the PM himself on Twitter. 'I appreciate the work of @vivek_oberoi towards creating a Swachh Bharat,' Modi tweeted.
What s the campaign about?
Prime Minster Narendra Modi launched the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on the 145th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi i.e. October 2, 2014. The campaign focuses on sanitation, hygiene and waste management. It includes sweeping, removal of garbage, debris and unauthorized encroachments from roads, markets and residential places.It aims at making India a clean country by 2019, the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
