Sulakshana Pandit is a veteran actor and singer who died on 6 November 2025, in the city of Mumbai at the age of 71. Her brother, a music composer, Lalit Pandit, affirmed that she had a cardiac arrest and passed away on her way to the hospital. Her death has been huge loss to the film and music industry and she was regarded as a versatile artist of her generation. Family sources revealed that Sulakshana was unwell, and was under medical treatment. She is reported to have complained of breathlessness on the evening of 6 November at her Mumbai residence. During the transfer to the hospital, she experienced a cardiac arrest and she died around 7 p.m. Her family, her brothers Jatin and Lalit Pandit also accompanied her.
Sulakshana Pandit was born on 12 July 1954 in Raigarh, Madhya Pradesh. She was the daughter of a family of classical musicians. Sulakshana Pandit also tried acting as well as singing. Her debut in acting was in the year 1975 with the movie Uljhan opposite Sanjeev Kumar, which received huge appreciation. She appeared in famous movies like Sankoch, Khandaan, Waqt Ki Deewar, Hera Pheri and Chehre Pe Chehra, with other leading actors like Rajesh Khanna, Vinod Khanna, and Jeetendra.
Since the beginning of her career was quite successful, the years afterwards were full of individual and health related difficulties of Sulakshana. After the mid 1980s, she began to slowly move out of acting and singing.
