People belonging to all age groups experience headaches now-a-days and stress mainly contributes to the problem, said neurologists during a national conference on neurology on Sunday.
The 21st annual conference of Indian Academy of Neurology concluded with lectures on headache and cognitive neurology.
Explaining about symptoms of thunderclap headache, Dr C E Deopujari of Mumbai said, 'Stress contributes mainly to this type of headache; patient experiences severe and sudden onset of headache and it only takes a few seconds to minutes to reach maximum intensity.'
The thunderclap headache can cause subarachnoid hemorrhage or brain aneurysm. The condition occurs when either the blood vessel is damaged or there is a weakness in the wall of the blood vessel in brain. Doctors said that brain aneurysm which is also called 'brain attack'; at times is so severe that the patient cannot even reach hospital for treatment. Patients can also experience seizures and temporary failure of any organ.
The four day conference witnessed 1000 to 1200 delegates and about 100 speakers from all around the globe and presented their research papers on the neural diseases prevailing in Indian subcontinent. Menaka Jha from Mumbai was adjudged as the winner of best paper award and Sujit Jagtap of Trivendrum was conferred best paper award on epilepsy. Massage
If the headache seems to be concentrated in the forehead region, place both your index fingers on either side of the nose bridge between the eyebrows.
