Diabetes And Hypertension Update in Telangana: According to a survey conducted between the months of January and August in the urban and rural regions of Telangana's Ranga Reddy district, cases pertaining to hypertension and diabetes are on the rise. This door-to-door survey screened 10,400 people in over 10 villages of Telangana and found more than 25 per cent of the people suffering from either diabetes or hypertension.
This study was an initiative taken up by the Hyderabad-based NGO Helping Hands Foundation (HHF), was part of its Rural NCD Outreach Programme. They did an extensive survey on the villages Maheshwaram, Nagaram, Kandukur, Mucherla, Mirkhantpet, and nearby hamlets, used trained counselors and specialized apps to gather health data on conditions like diabetes and hypertension.
As per reports from the study, approximately 5,000 people were screened at various HHF clinics in areas like Hakeempet, Wadi e Mahmood, Kishanbagh, Kalapather, and others showed 2,570 cases of diabetes and hypertension, said Mujtaba Hasan Askari of HHF.
