Thousands of Hindus flock the Kumbh Mela every third year for pilgrimage. It is the largest congregation of faith in the world and began yesterday in Nasik. However, there is always a risk of a stampede with such large number of people wanting to take a dip in the Godavari river
The pilgrimage began yesterday and Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent his good wishes to all the pilgrims. He tweeted:
My good wishes to all pilgrims on the start of the Kumbh Mela in Nashik. Have a wonderful pilgrimage, filled with joy & spirituality. Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) July 14, 2015 Chief Minister of Maharashtra also partcipated in the celebrations yesterday. He tweeted :
