A Pharmacological society of India which is associated with the detection assessment and prevention of adverse drug effects on humans has proposed a ban on codeine. This chemical ingredient is commonly used to relieve cough and combat pain. Claiming that the drug has serious side effects on the health the society has recommended to ban the drug in India. Prof K C Singhal founder and patron of Pharmacovigilance India (SOPI) said that more than a dozen drugs supplied in India need deregulation. He further said.
