Sonia Gandhi discharged from hospital, advised bed rest

68-year old, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, who was hospitalised for a respiratory tract infection at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Delhi has been discharged. According to hospital officials her condition is stable and she has recovered well from the infection. 'Her condition at the time of discharge is stable. She has been advised rest and to continue her medications,' said Dr D S Rana, Chairman of Board of Management at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.

The politician was admitted Thursday evening after she complained of breathing difficulty. She was under the care of Dr Arup Kumar Basu, Chairman of Chest Medicine at the hospital. Although Gandhi has a history of asthma, the doctors said that there was nothing serious about her condition and in fact she was suffering from an infection that is quite common during winters.
