The couple already has a son, named Vayu, who was born in August 2022. Taking to Instagram, Sonam Kapoor shared a series of pictures wearing a 1988 Margaretha Ley design to share the good news with her 34 million Instagram family. She wrote in the caption, "Mother" accompanied by a heart emoji. Whereas in an Instagram story, she wrote, "Coming Spring 2026."

Late Pregnancy Can Be Safe

The recent announcement of Sonam Kapoor's pregnancy has once again sparked conversations about late pregnancies. However similar cases have occurred in the past, to take into account, Katrina Kaif and Bipasha Basu who also had babies in their 40s without trouble.

According to research getting pregnant and delivering babies in their 40s has become a very common case since the 1990s. Healthcare professionals have stated that the birth rate in people aged between 40 to 44 has spiked over the years. With proper care and medical supervision, experts suggest that late pregnancies can be safe.

In an interaction with a leading media outlet, Dr Neelam Suri, senior consultant in obstetrics and gynaecology at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals said, "Pregnancy later in life is no longer unusual, and with the right medical care and precautions, many women experience positive outcomes. While risks are higher compared to pregnancies in the 20s or early 30s, informed planning, regular check-ups, and a healthy lifestyle can go a long way in ensuring the safety of both mother and baby."
