Sleeping either fewer or more hours than average may increase a man's risk of developing diabetes according to a new study. More than 29 million people nationwide have diabetes according to the Endocrine Society's Endocrine Facts and Figures Report. During the last 50 years the average self-reported sleep duration for individuals has decreased by 1.5 to 2 hours according to senior author Femke Rutters. The prevalence of diabetes has doubled in the same time period.
