Size Zero movie: Obese women need to lose weight to get married! True?

The Anushka Shetty starrer Size Zero trailer created quite a stir because the heroine was obese and not quite her curvy self. Unlike her other movies like Baahubali and Rani Rudrama Devi, where she played a warrior princess, Anushka has bulked up for her bubbly and girl-next-door look in this movie. The trailer seems to indicate that being overweight or obese is all about body image issues and relationship problems because her mother faces a hard time finding a match for her. The movie revolves around a girl who is bubbly and happy-go-lucky who is of 'marriageable age'. She joins a weight loss program which promises to help her lose weight in a week (yes, within 7 days!). And don't miss what the instructor has to say about the entire program lose weight with no diet control so eat what you want. Even junk food is not eliminated from the list of things to avoid. Later in the movie you also see her jogging and running in the garden and exercising in the gym to shed extra kilos indicating that there are no short-cuts to weight loss.

Is she losing weight only to get married? Will you do the same? Well, weight loss is not just about being good marriage material or dealing with body image issues. It is more about leading a healthy life and lowering your risk of various health complications because obesity puts you at risk of various lifestyle diseases like diabetes, hypertension, PCOS, heart disease and stroke.

There are many simple weight loss tips like getting up from your chair every 30 minutes that you can follow every day. Eat a healthy diet to maintain your ideal weight. Exercise daily to tone your body and prevent your risk of various diseases or conditions and not because you are finding it difficult to get hitched because of your weight!
