Six-pack abs not a sign of fitness: Vidyut Jamwal

Vidyut JamwalIn a recent interview with Times Life, martial artist/actor Vidyut Jamwal talked about the various wrong notions people have about fitness, particularly the newfound six-pack abs craze. He said, 'A lot of people have the wrong idea about fitness. They think people with great bodies are healthy and fit. The truth is you may not be fit in spite of having a six pack. Fitness is never about short-term goals. It's not a fad or a trend. It's about making a lifelong commitment to the ideology of holistic health. Fitness, for me, is a way of life.'

He also reiterated how he enjoyed being healthy even when he was three. The actor also took a dig at people who cite that lack of facilities is responsible for their lack of exercise. He said, 'People often complain about the lack of facilities, like a gym around their locality. These are excuses. The truth is that you can sprint anywhere be it on the streets or a treadmill. Most of the strength-building exercises like chinups, push-ups and sit-ups can be done anywhere, anytime.'

The actor also talked about his fitness regime saying the he trained every single day five days are dedicated to martial arts while two are for weight training. Interestingly, he said whilst weight training he focussed more on the lower body since 'the lower body works as a pillar that supports the upper body'. (Vidyut Jamwal's fitness secrets)

He also revealed that he that he is a vegetarian who depends on tofu as his main protein source and added that he eats regularly and always keeps himself hydrated. (Revealed - the truth about non-veg food)
