Singapore PM discharged following a successful surgery for prostate cancer

Singapore, Feb 18: Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong was discharged from a hospital here today following a successful surgery for prostate cancer. Lee was diagnosed with prostate cancer in January and underwent surgery on Monday at Singapore General Hospital. (Read: 6 symptoms of prostate cancer all men should know)

Professor Christopher Cheng, who performed the surgery on Lee, said: Prime Minister's pathology report is good. The disease is small but potentially significant. We are very glad we are able to detect and remove it in time. He should make a full recovery. (Read: Prostate cancer tips to help you lower your level of risk)

In a statement from the Prime Minister's Office, Lee thanked the competent, dedicated and compassionate team of radiologists, pathologists, doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and others who treated him. It was the second time that Lee had suffered cancer. He was diagnosed with lymphoma in 1992, for which he underwent chemotherapy. (Read: 5 superfoods all men must have for healthy prostate)
