There are many different and bizarre kinds of delicacies around the world, but having to try one without volition can be a tricky thing. Recently, a man in Thailand underwent a rather harrowing and shocking experience after purchasing something as harmless as an ice cream. What can go wrong? Well, on a bad day, you may end up finding a dead, frozen snake in your ice cream. The Thai man found the entire snake inside the ice cream bar that he had bought from a street cart. The photos were later shared on the internet and they naturally went viral. The victim -- a man known online as 'Rayban Naklengboon' from Pak Tho in the Mueang Ratchaburi region of central Thailand -- shared pictures on his Facebook account, in which the snake's coiled body is clearly visible. A disturbing sight to many, it is not something one may expect to find in an ice cream.
"Such big eyes! Is it dead yet? Black bean, street vendor, real picture, because I bought it myself," the man wrote in Thai, which was translated into English. For the unversed, black beans are a type of ice cream found in Thailand. The post garnered thousands of reactions, comments, and shares.
Black and yellow in colour, the snake's head is clearly visible in the picture that was posted on the platform. People have speculated it could be a 'mildly venomous' golden tree snake called Chrysopelea ornata, which is common in the region. How it became one with the ice cream bar, is not known.
There were many hilarious responses dropped against the post. For instance, one Facebook user wrote: "It should be a new flavour, ice cream with a snack flavour." Another person joked: "Eat and become an angel."
Some other people took the matter seriously, and urged authorities to investigate the case of food contamination. Their argument was that if an entire snake can be found in an ice cream mixture, other contaminants may also be present. They raised concerns about hygiene and food safety standards in the region.
