A few hours after Union Minister Shashi Tharoor's wife Sunanda was found dead in a Delhi hotel Mr Tharoor complained of chest pain and breathlessness. He was rushed to AIIMS and was admitted to the ICU there. This chest pain could be a reaction to the stress of his wife's death. The body gets into a 'fight or flight' response in reaction to any form of stress. In most situations it helps us cope with the emergency or stressful situation. In times of grief our body instead of releasing adrenaline releases cortisol instead. This could cause increase in blood pressure.
