Union agriculture minister and NCP honcho Sharad Pawar is doing well after undergoing a surgical procedure at Breach Candy Hospital. Reports suggest that Pawar was discharged on Tuesday morning. It's still unknown why the 72-year-old was admitted to the hospital. Party sources claimed that he had gone for a routine check-up.
'He is doing all right. Doctors have advised him rest, and therefore he will not be receiving visitors for a day,' said NCP spokesman Madan Bafna. Pawar, who turns 72 on Wednesday, was admitted to the hospital under the care of oncologist Dr Sultan Pradhan.
Hospital officials claimed that Pawar's operation was minor. 'He is doing well and there is no relapse of cancer,'' said leading onco-surgeon Dr Sultan Pradhan, who had operated on Pawar. Dr Pradhan refused to elaborate on Monday's procedure, except for saying that it was too minor to be worried about.
Dr Pradhan has been Pawar's doctor ever since it was diagnosed that he has suffering from oral cancer.
