Celebrity singer-composer, Shankar Mahadevan went live on Facebook for a 'Ask Me Anything' session, and true to the spirit of the interview, he answered myriad questions ranging from music, hobbies and likes, his career and, of course, his health. He suffered a heart attack in December last year, after which he had to undergo an angioplasty.
He has a huge fan following all over the world, with over 63 lakhs followers on Facebook and 686K followers on Twitter. Many people expressed concern over his health and whether he has been taking steps to maintain a healthier lifestyle. In response, Mahadevan said that after the health scare, he definitely realises the important of being more active and being healthy. He said that heart problems in his family is hereditary, his father died due to a heart attack. After his angioplasty he has made sure that he stays more active and energetic. 'I walk like crazy and I am very careful with my diet. It's difficult because I am a foodie, but the heart attack was a lesson about the importance of good health. I have lost weight too! Health is wealth, and I completely believe in it,' Mahadevan said.
When asked about how his perspective on life has changed after the angioplasty, he sang the lines of the song from the movie Kal Ho Na Ho 'pal bhar yahan jee bhar jiyo, jo hai sama, kal ho na ho'. He says that he now believes in living healthily and living fully. He values life and his near and dear ones even more now because he realises that life is fickle. Since you do not know whether you'll be around tomorrow or not, it is important to make the most of today.
