Shakira health news: Colombian singer and songwriter Shakira has been hospitalised. The 48-year-old took to Instagram to mention in a story that she was forced to cancel one of her shows in Peru because of an 'abdominal issue' that required her to get hospitalised. The 'Hips Don't Lie' singer, however, did not specify the details of her health problem. The musician was apparently hospitalised on February 15, while doing her 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran' world tour. She made the announcement in a statement shared on Instagram stories on February 16. "I am sorry to inform you all that last night I had to go to the ER for an abdominal issue and am currently hospitalised," the dancer and record producer wrote.
Shakira also mentioned that at the recommendation of the doctors treating her, she will not be taking the stage to perform. "The doctors whose care I am currently under, have communicated that I am not in [a] good enough condition to perform this evening. I am very sad to not be able to take the stage today. I've been looking forward to reuniting with my incredible fans here in Peru."

"I hope to be released and well tomorrow so I'm able to perform," the mother-of-two wrote. Her second show in Lima, Peru was scheduled to be held Monday, February 17. She reassured her fans that her team is working on a new date, which will be communicated to them.
"Thank you all for your understanding. I love you all," she signed off as 'Shak'.
In another Instagram story, Shakira thanked her fans and followers for understanding her situation. "Thank you all for your loving messages. You give me so much strength. I love you with all my heart."

According to news reports, as soon as the news of Shakira's hospitalisation broke, her Peru fans gathered outside Clinica Delgado Auna in Lima, where she is receiving treatment. Photos of concerned fans holding cards and banners have gone viral on social media.
