Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan was hospitalised in Ahmedabad after suffering a heat stroke. The actor was admitted to KD Hospital in Ahmedabad on Wednesday afternoon. According to the reports, SRK was hospitalised due to dehydration and has been discharged now. However, there is no official update regarding the actor's health as of now.

Heat Stroke: Causes Symptoms And More

Heat stroke is a serious heat-related illness, caused when the body gets overheated and can't control its temperature. The body heats up quickly and makes it difficult to cool down as it stops sweating. During this period, your body temperature may reach 106 F or more in just 15 minutes.

What Causes Heatstroke

Heatstroke generally happens when your body heats due to facing high temperatures for a longer duration or due to intense exercise in a hotter environment. The serious condition takes place when body temperature reaches 104 F or more higher and it is very common during summer days.

Symptoms of heat stroke

  • High body temperature of 104 or higher is the earliest and main sign.
  • Slurred speech, confusion, agitation, slurred speech, irritability, seizure, and even come in some cases.
  • Change in sweating, skin may feel dry, moist and hot.
  • Feeling uncomfortable with the stomach and may intend to vomit.
  • Reddish skin due to rise in body temperature.
  • Rapid or quick breathing
  • Increased pulse rate due to heat stress on the heart.
  • You may experience an extreme headache.

How to prevent heat stroke

There are certain steps and advice that are given by experts to follow if you want to prevent yourself from heat stroke.

Keep yourself hydrated- Drink more and more water regularly, due to extreme heat your body will lose water in the form of sweat and excessive sweating may cause dehydration.

Wear Light Clothes- Wearing light clothes does not allow heat to get absorbed and reflects it back. Choose clothes with light weight and breathable.

Avoid going outside in the Sun- Instead go outside when the sun gets down or when it is much cooler outside in the evening.

Rest- Heat is tiring, so give yourself some time to rest and let your body recover.

Keep Your Home Cool- It's not necessary to have Air conditioning at your home to keep your home cool, you can do it by opening the window and letting the air do its job.
