Satyamev Jayate Impact: Yamunanagar district to have ramps for the disabled

Haryana's Yamunanaga district is all set to become the country's first 'physically challenged friendly' district. The government has stated that by this Independence Day all government buildings in Yamunanagar will have the facility of ramps for the physically challenged. A state government spokesman said that the facility would be provided in compliance of the Persons with Disability Act, enacted by the central government.

"With this facility, people with disabilities would be able to move in any educational institution or government offices or in a mall in the district with ease," he said. He said that ramps have been constructed not only in urban areas but also in rural areas. "The efforts to construct these ramps were being made by the Red Cross Society through district administration for the last two years," he said.
