Superstar Alia Bhatt is going the dirty-messy way with her hair for a good ten days! Why so? She has been asked not to wash her tresses for over a week till she begins shooting for her next film. The actress is instructed to keep away from any hair wash regime and let her hair get dirty. However, Alia is seen sporting gorgeous hair-dos for her films and various events. Her long tresses are an asset to her appearance.
In the recent past, our Hollywood counterparts were a part of a similar practice the no-poo trend, referring to skipping the usage of shampoos. Stars like Jessica Simpson, Gwyneth Paltrow to Adele and Nicole Scherzinger, Robert Pattinson, Johnny Depp and Prince Harry were known to go the no-poo way.
Going the 'no-poo' way
This routine haircare change is meant to spare your hair from the damage that harsh chemical-based shampoos cause over time. As we wash our hair over and again with such hair products, our scalp is stripped of its natural layers of oil.
Most shampoos contain Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) and Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) which are potential irritants that turn your hair texture rough and leave the scalp dry and itchy. This is why as a reaction, our scalp produces more oil that turns our hair unnecessarily greasy, and the cycle repeats just about every few days. Here are some more reasons to skip your daily shampoo.
Switch to a herbal option
Instead of exposing your hair to harsh chemicals or going days without washing your hair, you could opt for an effective age-old remedy. Making shampoo with herbs like amla or Indian gooseberry, shikakai and reetha or soapnut could repair and improve your hair s condition without stripping them off their natural oils.
